Switch cabinet
The electrical and electronic parts of a process plant, a machine tool or production equipment are accommodated in the switch cabinet. A control cabinet is used whenever the electrical or electronic parts of one of the aforementioned systems cannot be installed within the machine or system. Components of a standard control cabinet are made of powder-coated steel, aluminum or plastic. Special attention should be paid here to electromagnetic compatibility.
Terminal strips are used to connect the electronic and electrical components within a control cabinet. Within the cabinet, accidental contact of live components is excluded. In order to guarantee the safety, if touchable parts are installed in the cabinet, on which voltage lies, the cabinet can be opened in this case only with special tools.
A control cabinet offers many advantages, including the following: Shielding from external influences such as water, dust and dirt, structured construction, covering from vandalism and many others.
