AutoStore Grid
Maximize Your Warehouse Space with the AutoStore Grid
The AutoStore Grid is the essential structure that supports the AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). This robust, three-dimensional aluminium framework houses the storage bins, optimizing space utilization and enhancing operational efficiency. With its flexible and modular design, the AutoStore Grid is tailored to meet the unique needs of any warehouse, regardless of size or layout.
High-Density Storage
The AutoStore Grid allows you to store up to four times as many goods in the same footprint compared to traditional shelving systems. By stacking bins vertically and eliminating the need for aisles, the Grid maximizes your storage capacity.
Customizable Layout
No two warehouses are the same, and the AutoStore Grid reflects that reality. Its modular design means you can configure it to fit any warehouse shape, size, or height, adapting to your specific requirements. Whether you need to build around existing structures or expand vertically, the Grid can be customized to suit your needs.
Robust and Durable
Constructed from high-quality aluminum, the Grid is designed to withstand the demands of a busy warehouse environment. Its sturdy construction ensures long-term durability, providing a reliable foundation for your automated storage solution.
Seamless Scalability
As your business grows, so too can your AutoStore system. The Grid is designed for easy expansion, allowing you to add more storage capacity without disrupting ongoing operations. This scalability means you can continue to meet increasing demand without significant downtime or costly reconfigurations.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency
By organizing your inventory within the Grid, the AutoStore system streamlines your order fulfillment process. The autonomous robots navigate seamlessly across the Grid, quickly retrieving and delivering bins to workstations. This efficiency reduces picking times, minimizes errors, and boosts overall productivity.
How It Works
Quick and Easy Construction
The AutoStore Grid, manufactured from high-quality aluminum, combines lightweight design with exceptional durability, ensuring it can handle the demands of any warehouse environment.
Constructing the AutoStore Grid is almost as straightforward as assembling LEGO™ blocks. With only 17 different parts, all AutoStore components are standardized modules that are simple to assemble and effortlessly connect.
Tracks: A Railway for Robots
The Grid is equipped with tracks running in both X and Y directions, enabling robots to reach any cell within the Grid. The standard Double/Double Grid (DDG) features a double rail in both directions, allowing robots to pass each other from all sides.
- Single/Double Grid: Robots can pass each other in one (X or Y) direction.
- Double/Double Grid: Robots can pass each other in both (X and Y) directions.
Connecting Grids to Optimize Space Usage for Lower Real Estate Costs
The Grid-to-Grid configuration allows you to connect AutoStore grids on multiple floors within a warehouse, using the AutoStore Bin Lift™. This innovative setup increases bin accessibility and optimizes space utilization, ensuring you can maximize your storage capacity while minimizing real estate costs.
- Compatible with both SSD and DDG tracks, providing flexibility in system design.
- Bin Lift Reach: The AutoStore Bin Lift™ can extend up to 16.5 meters in height, facilitating efficient vertical storage and retrieval across different levels of your facility.
Seamless Integration and Minimal Disruption
Expanding your AutoStore Grid is straightforward and easy. Thanks to its modular design, Grid extensions are confined to a specific area, ensuring no impact or downtime to your ongoing operations during construction. All you need is a flat floor and some common hand tools.
- Simple Tools Required: Typically, only hex keys, wrenches, a mallet, and a drill are needed.
- Quick Installation: Most AutoStore Grids can be erected in just one month.
Self-Supporting Grid Design
Streamline your warehouse setup and optimize space with the AutoStore Grid Bracer.
The Grid Bracer module transforms the AutoStore Double/Double Grid into a self-supporting structure, eliminating the need for additional structural support around pillars or walls. This module provides increased flexibility and significantly cuts down on installation time and costs.
- Reduced Installation Time & Costs:
No need for extra structural support, leading to quicker and more cost-effective installations. - Increased Storage Density:
The Grid Bracer does not occupy any cells within the Grid, maximizing your storage capacity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is There a Maximum Size for the Grid?
330 mm Bins: The Grid can accommodate up to 16 bins high, equating to a total height of 5.4 meters. Including robots and the recommended service space, the total height reaches 7.52 meters.
220 mm Bins: The Grid can hold up to 24 bins high, maintaining the same total height of 5.4 meters. With robots and service space, the total height is also 7.52 meters.
425 mm Bins: The Grid can stack up to 14 bins high, resulting in a height of 6 meters. With the addition of robots and the necessary service space, the total height extends to 8.18 meters.
These specifications ensure you can optimize your storage capacity within the given height limits, maximizing efficiency and utilization of your warehouse space.
How Much Clearance Is Needed Between the Roof and the Top of the Grid?
We recommend maintaining at least 2 meters of clearance above the Grid for optimal performance and safety. While it is possible to work with less clearance, this must be reviewed and approved by local authorities and our experts.
These specifications ensure you can optimize your storage capacity within the given height limits, maximizing efficiency and utilization of your warehouse space.
What Is the Center-to-Center Distance (Length-Width) Between the Bins?
Single/Double Grid: The center-to-center distance is 705mm in the wide Grid direction and 480mm in the narrow Grid direction.
Double/Double Grid: The center-to-center distance is 705mm in the wide Grid direction and 505mm in the narrow Grid direction.
Can an AutoStore Grid Be Installed in Environments with Temperature Variations?
Yes, the AutoStore Grid can be installed in environments with temperature fluctuations. It is crucial to account for the effects of temperature changes on the aluminum tracks, especially for larger Grids. The AutoStore Grid incorporates a Flexible Grid Cell component that provides high resilience, holding the tracks together and safely absorbing thermal expansion. This ensures the Grid remains even and maintains optimal working conditions for the Robots, which is essential for system stability and uptime.
