Conveyor technology
Conveyor technology is a sub-area of intralogistics and basically deals with the development, planning and construction of transport systems for conveying unit loads or bulk goods within delimited operating areas. Conveyor technology plays a central role in the flow of materials within a company. Conveying technology is not only about the pure technology, but also about the process design during the operation of the systems. This means that it is the totality of all storage, handling and transport tasks, both from a technical and an economic point of view.
Basically, a distinction is made between manual and automated or semi-automated conveyor systems. A manual system is always used when the goods to be transported have to be moved irregularly at distant times. However, automated or semi-automated conveyor technologies are more commonly used. These include driverless transport systems, loading systems, lifting stations and others. Depending on the requirements, the systems can be designed flexibly. Compared to manual systems, this means higher productivity and efficiency.
